Activities Policy

  3. Activities Policy

OBJECTIVE

Activities help to organize and emphasize the importance or relevance of the task at hand. It also helps to avoid miscommunications and mistakes of task repetition in the WeVysya Environment. All organization activities are very much teambuilding experiences. Activities can help open communication among members from other houses and the leadership teams as well.

SCOPE

Activities Policy focuses on what kind of activities can be planned as part of WeVysya meetings and as part of WeVysya as a whole. Any activity planned should be focusing on bringing up any human values, business ethics or skills needed to grow self or the business of the members.

POLICY GUIDELINES/PROCESS

LIST OF POSSIBLE ACTIVITIES

1.     HOT SEAT

2.     POWER OF BODY LANGUAGE

Here’s how it works: Tell the participants that you are going to give them a series of instructions and you want them to follow them as fast as they can. State the following actions as you engage in them:

1.     Put your hand to your nose.

2.     Clap your hands.

3.     Stand up.

4.     Touch your shoulder.

5.     Sit down.

6.     Stamp your foot.

7.     Cross your arms.

8.     Put your hand to your mouth (but while saying this one, put your hand to your nose).

9.     Observe how many participants copied what you did instead of what you said.

Share this observation with your group and lead a discussion on how body language can influence our understanding and our reactions. It can reinforce what we hear or it can interfere with the verbal communication we receive. The more aware we are of this possibility, the better communicators we become. It’s vital to keep your own body language in mind, just as it’s vital to notice and understand others’ body language.

3.     MEMORY TEST ACTIVITY

Here’s how it works:  Tell participants that you are going to read them a list of words to test their memory.  Instruct them to listen carefully, as they cannot write down any of the words. Tell them you will test them later to see how many of the words they can remember. Repeat each of the following words slowly, pausing briefly between each word:

1.     DREAM

2.     SLEEP

3.     NIGHT

4.     MATTRESS

5.     SNOOZE

6.     SHEET

7.     NOD

8.     TIRED

9.     NIGHT

10.  ARTICHOKE

11.  INSOMNIA

12.  BLANKET

13.  NIGHT

14.  ALARM

15.  NAP

16.  SNORE

17.  PILLOW

When you finish reading the list of words, distract your participants by talking about something else for at least one full minute. Once you have finished talking, have each participant write down as many words as they can remember from the list. You (and your participants) will find that it’s pretty difficult to remember a list of somewhat-random words, especially when there is a break in time and another discussion in between hearing them and recalling them! Relate this to real-life listening by emphasizing the importance of paying attention to people when they are speaking to you, especially if it’s an important conversation.

4.     KNOW YOUR BUDDY

1.     Let your member friends be your ambassadors

2.     Logo Wall

3.     Mera Yaar

4.     Foodie Buddy

5.     What am I good at

6.     Health is Wealth

Lot more to go…!!!
